Lords complete perfect weekend in nation's capital

OTTAWA, ON - The Durham College men's basketball team completed their weekend trip with a perfect two-game sweep after defeating the La Cité Coyotes 59-55 on Sunday.

Despite the Coyotes going ahead early with two buckers in the opening 1:21, the Lords ultimately outscored the hosts 22-14 for an early lead. The second quarter was closer with only one point separating the two, allowing Durham to go into the halftime break with a nine point lead.

Coming out for the third quarter, both sides had game-low production in the quarter and struggled to find shots to drop. Scoring only seven points in the 10 minute frame, the Lords saw their lead slip to three.

Durham doubled their quarterly total from the third to the fourth, and La Cité couldn't come closer than within four points the rest of the way as the Lords hung on for the win.

Jason Elliott (Toronto, ON) was the team leader in points with 17, also adding four rebounds, four steals and an assist.

Kevin Hamlet (Scarborough, ON) also stood out with 11 points and five rebounds. Mark Stoop (Oshawa, ON) finished the ay with nine points and six rebounds.

O'Shane Taylor-Douglas (Scarborough, ON) made his presence known all over the court, finishing with eight points, four rebounds, four steals and a trio of assists.

The Lords are back on the court on Friday, November 24 against the Fleming Phoenix for a 7:00 PM tip-off at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre.
