OSHAWA, ON - The Durham Lords men's basketball team refused to let a slow start define their night, coming back to defeat the St. Lawrence Surge 75-63.
St. Lawrence found themselves ahead early by a 7-2 score less than three minutes into the game, but a three-point shot hit from Isaiah Barton (Whitby, ON) helped keep things in control early and narrow the gap.
After one quarter, the Surge led in a tight one 13-12.
In the second quarter, Durham nearly doubled their total with a 20-point quarter, however a 22-point performance from the Surge kept the hosts behind at halftime 35-32.
A massive third quarter for the Lords put them ahead, outscoring St. Lawrence 22-9. Adam Hosseini (Toronto, ON) accounted for 10 points, with Kanskie Simon (Pickering, ON) and Angelo Sarsonas (Scarborough, ON) scoring five each and Barton adding two.
In the final frame, Hosseini had another double-digit point quarter with 11 as the Lords outscored the visitors 21-19 to hold on to the lead and win it 75-63.
Hosseini was the team leader in points with 27 in 34 minutes played.
Two members of the Lords posted a double-double, with Mark Stoop (Oshawa, ON) finishing the night with 12 points and as many rebonds while Simon registered 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Sarsonas and his 11 points rounded out the four Lords that exceeded 10 on the night.
Durham's next game will also be at home on Tuesday, February 7th against the Fleming Knights at 7:00 PM.
