Box Score OSHAWA, ON – The Durham Lords men's basketball team came from behind to win big on Tuesday evening, defeating the Fleming Knights 84-67.
In the first quarter, the hosts faced a scare through 10 minutes as they trailed the visiting Knights 24-14, who came into the game with only three wins on the season.
Durham bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring the Knights 26-12 in the frame on the back of Kanskie Simon (Pickering, ON) who scored eight points in the frame. This gave the Lords a 40-36 lead going into halftime.
Coming out of the break, things appeared more even again with the Lords outscoring Fleming 19-16 in the third quarter to extend their lead from four to seven. In the fourth, Mark Stoop (Oshawa, ON) got hot offensively with 10 of his team's 25 points in the quarter. The defense locked down, holding Fleming to 15 points. With this, Durham would cruise to an 84-67 victory.
Two players recorded double-doubles on the night, with Stoop posting 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Angelo Sarsonas (Scarborough, ON) finished the night with 13 points and 11 assists.
Adam Hosseini (Toronto, ON) was the team leader in points with 18, along with four rebounds, a pair of steals, an assist and a block. Simon was a force on the court, finishing with 11 points and seven rebounds. Desson Spencer (Scarborough, ON) and his eight rebounds were second on the team in the category.
With the win, the Lords find themselves on a three-game winning streak.
Durham is back in action on Friday as the Centennial Colts come to town for an 8:00 PM tip-off. Prior to the game, the Lords will celebrate their graduating seniors with a brief pre-game ceremony.
