BELLEVILLE, ON - With a 90-78 win against the Loyalist Lancers, the Durham College men's basketball extend their winning streak to 11 games.
It was a back-and-forth affair through the first bit of the first quarter, with the scoreboard reading 9-9 over three minutes in. After this, the Lords would go on a 9-0 run that saw them start to create a lead too large for the hosts to overcome.
Durham had six different scorers in the quarter, ultimately shooting 11-for-17 with 15 combined points from O'Shane Taylor-Douglas (Scarborough, ON) and Kevin Hamlet (Scarborough, ON).
Into the second quarter, the Lords continued to pile on their lead with 23 more points. Mark Stoop (Oshawa, ON) was reliable on both ends of the court, scoring six points and grabbing six boards in 10 minutes of play.
Going into halftime, the Lords held a large 51-30 lead.
Loyalist found offensive sparks in the second half, scoring 21 points in the third quarter. But with the Lords matching their point total, they were unable to chip away at their deficit.
The Lancers would do just that in the fourth quarter, outscoring their guests 27-18 but that wouldn't be enough as the Lords went home with a 12-point victory.
Hamlet was the points leader with 23, one of five players in double-digit territory on the night. Additionally, he added five assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals.
Stoop finished with a double-double, registering 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Taylor-Douglas and Jasean Elliott (Toronto, ON) both put up 16 assists, Taylor-Douglas had a double-double in his own right, adding 11 assists to his stat line.
Also notably, Kanskie Simon (Pickering, ON) scored 11 points with three rebounds, an assist and a steal in 20 minutes of play.
The Lords have four regular season games left on the schedule, beginning with a meeting with the Seneca Sting on Tuesday, January 30 at 8:00 PM for Retro Night.
