Nationally ranked #5 Lords win 13th straight

KINGSTON, ON - The Durham College men's basketball team pick up another win on the day they rise into the top five in the CCAA national rankings, defeating the St. Lawrence Surge 88-67 on the road.

St. Lawrence started the game with a three point shot to open the scoring in a tightly contested quarter that saw the Lords lead 18-14 after 10 minutes.

The second frame was the biggest for the Lords, dropping 28 points while holding the Surge to only 16. Kanskie Simon (Pickering, ON) went off in the quarter, shooting 4-for-5 and scoring eight points.

Jasean Elliott (Toronto, ON) also scored seven of his eight points for the game in the quarter. Going into halftime, the visiting Lords led 46-30.

The first half of the third quarter was low scoring with the Surge only outscoring the Lords 7-4 through five minutes.

After the Surge had an opportunity for three free throws and hit them all, it sparked some offensive success for the hosts in the third quarter.

Durham bounced back in the fourth, thanks to Glodi Kashala (Brampton, ON) who shot 5-for-5 in the final frame with six rebounds to not only keep their lead but extend it for a 21-point victory.

Rudy Fakih (Toronto, ON) finished the game as the team-leader in points with 22, also adding five rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.

Kashala finished the game with 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench in 16 minutes of playing time.

O'Shane Taylor-Douglas (Scarborough, ON) had 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists on the sheet while Simon was the fourth Lord with double-digit points, scoring 10.

Mark Stoop (Oshawa, ON) was one bucket short of a double-double, grabbing 14 boards, all in the defensive end, and scoring eight points on the night.

The Lords will close out their regular season at home with games against the Algonquin Wolves on Friday at 8:00 PM and La Cité Coyotes on Saturday at 2:00 PM. Graduating seniors will be celebrated prior to Friday's game.
