OSHAWA, ON - Kicking off their weekend the right way, the Durham College men's basketball team defeat the visiting Algonquin Wolves 87-57.

Jasean Elliott (Toronto, ON) sparked the Lords offence in the opening quarter with seven points in eight minutes of action. By the end of the frame, the Lords had doubled the visitors' score with a 22-11 lead.

Durham continued to form a mountain of a lead in the second quarter, scoring 20 more points in the second quarter while holding the Wolves to only 12. 

O'Shane Taylor-Douglas (Scarborough, ON) accounted for more than 50% of points for the hosts in the second quarter, putting 11 on the board.

Algonquin bounced back in the second half on the offensive side of the ball with 15 points in the third quarter, but Durham also had more to say on offence with 27 points. Elliott, Taylor-Douglas and Kevin Hamlet (Scarborough, ON) combined for 21 points in the third.

In the fourth quarter, the Wolves outscored the Lords for the only time in the game, by a 19-18 score line. The one-point advantage was not enough to overcome their deficit with the Lords ultimately winning by 30.

Taylor-Douglas finished the night as the team leader in points with 20, also adding five rebounds and four assists.

Elliott and Hamlet both put up 18 points with Elliott registering five assists, three rebounds and two steals while Hamlet recorded six rebounds, two steals and a block.

Two players were in double-digit point territory coming off the bench as Caleb Carter (Brampton, ON) and Rudy Fakih (Toronto, ON) each put up 11 points.

The Lords end the regular season on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre, hosting the La Cité Coyotes at 2:00 PM.
