Austin continues career at home in Durham

OSHAWA, Ont. - Sierra Austin secures her spot as the newest member of the Durham College women's rugby team, set to hit the pitch this fall.

Another member of a highly talented Austin family to wear the green and gold, Sierra joins DC from Brock University where she played four years for the Badgers - serving on the leadership team in all four seasons.

Sierra is originally from the Durham Region and is a graduate of Pickering High School in Ajax. She competed on the rugby teams from 2016 through 2020.

Playing 7's and 15's with the Ontario Jr. Blues program, Sierra was a key piece to the U16 girls team when they won gold at the eastern provincial championships. She also earned a bronze medal with the U18 squad.

No stranger to playing under head coach Chris McKee, Austin has played for the Oshawa Vikings since 2017.

After graduating from Brock's Political Science program, Sierra is set to enrol in the Advanced Law Enforcement and Investigations graduate certificate program in September.
