Lords add decorated local talent Destinee Dale to women’s rugby program

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's rugby is excited to kickoff recruiting season with the addition of Destinee Dale to the program.

Dale arrives at Durham with a decorated rugby background, having suited up for the Aurora Barbarians, Toronto Rugby and Oshawa Vikings, as well as representing the Ontario Blues Development Academy.

"Destinee is the type of athlete every program wants to bring in. She's competitive, coachable and already has a strong understanding of the game from the environments she's been part of," said Head Coach Chris McKee. "What stood out most to us was her work ethic and how much pride she takes in being a great teammate. We're excited to see what she can do in a Durham uniform over the next few years."

The Pickering native has competed at the Tropical 7s from 2024 to 2026, winning the title in her final year, and helped lead Ajax High School to a Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletics (LOSSA) gold medal in 7s.

For Destinee, staying close to home was a major factor in her decision. More importantly, it was the culture she saw within the program that drew her in.

"The way the Durham Lords carries themselves and work together as a team was a great inspiration to me," she said.

Dale projects as an immediate asset on the wing and at centre, bringing pace and a nose for the try line. Her versatility and competitive edge will add depth to a Lords squad that continues to build momentum in the OCAA.

Behind every athlete is a support system, and Dale is quick to recognize those who helped her reach this next step.

She credits her mother for the countless hours on the road and unwavering belief, her father for instilling toughness, and her best friend for standing by her through every ruck. She also thanked school coaches Eric Noyes and Andrew Dyment for introducing her to the sport, and expressed gratitude for her faith guiding her path.

Looking ahead, Dale is set to graduate from Ajax High School this spring and will enter the Personal Support Worker program with the goal of becoming a nurse. On the pitch and in the classroom, she's ready to make her mark.
