Durham Rolls to 10th Straight Win

NORTH YORK, Ont. – The No. 1 ranked Durham College women's softball team continued their perfect start to the OCAA season, sweeping a shorthanded Seneca Sting on Wednesday night to secure their ninth and tenth consecutive wins.
 
With a 10-0 record, Durham enters a pivotal weekend, facing second-place Humber (7-1) and the defending national champions St. Clair (6-3).
 
In game one, Durham dominated with a 19-0 victory, powered by stellar performances from the heart of the lineup. Emily Taylor (Oshawa, Ont.) was flawless at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Peyton Jones (Oshawa, Ont.) contributed with a 3-for-3 performance, adding three runs and four RBI, while Chelsea Oke (Brooklin, Ont.) went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Jayden Bennett (Bowmanville, Ont.) and Emily Rowe (Rusagonis, N.B.) also had multi-hit games.
 
Makayla Benz (Simcoe, Ont.) pitched four shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out nine.
 
In game two, Morgan Salter (Battersea, Ont.) was unstoppable, throwing five hitless innings and striking out 13 of the 15 batters she faced, as the Lords cruised to a 23-0 win.
 
The offense stayed hot, with Jessica Green (Stratford, Ont.), Jessica Benz (Simcoe, Ont.), and Jones combining for 11 hits, 10 runs, and nine RBI.
 
Durham hits the road on Saturday for games against Humber and Sheridan, before returning home on Sunday to face St. Clair at 11 a.m. and Lambton at 3 p.m.
