Box Score 4 OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's softball team continues to dominate, improving their record to 14-0 after a successful weekend featuring four hard-fought victories.
The weekend kicked off with the Lords traveling to face the Sheridan Bruins, where they secured a 6-3 comeback win, followed by a 4-1 rain-shortened victory against the Humber Hawks.
On Sunday, back at home, Durham took down the defending national champions, the St. Clair Saints, with a 5-3 win and capped the weekend with an 11-4 victory over the Lambton Lions.
Durham's pitching depth was on full display, as four different pitchers earned wins:
Morgan Salter (Battersea, Ont.),
Makayla Benz (Simcoe, Ont.),
Peyton Jones (Oshawa, Ont.), and
Chelsea Oke (Brooklin, Ont.). Benz currently leads the OCAA with six wins this season.
Offensively, the Lords have been unstoppable, racking up 150 runs over 14 games.
Jessica Benz (Simcoe, Ont.),
Grace Hearns (Napanee, Ont.), and
Jayden Bennett (Bowmanville, Ont.) sit in the top three spots for batting average in the OCAA, while Jones leads the league with 24 RBIs.
With their perfect 14-0 record, the Lords hold a 3.5-game lead over second-place Humber Hawks (10-3) as they prepare for another weekend set, facing Lambton in Sarnia on Saturday and St. Clair in Windsor on Sunday.
Durham's next home game is on Wednesday, October 2, against the Conestoga Condors.
