OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College's men's soccer team secured a dominant 7-0 victory over Fleming College on Wednesday night at Vaso's Field, improving their record to 3-1-2 on the season.
Chris Badibengi was the star of the night, netting a first-half hat trick with goals in the 9th, 20th, and 30th minutes. Badibengi, who is now second in OCAA scoring with six goals this season, received assists from
Nathan Blowers and
Reuben Lawrence, propelling Durham to a commanding 4-0 halftime lead.
Fleming struggled throughout, managing only one shot on target, which was saved by Durham's backup goalkeeper,
Ryan Sukovski, who was subbed in during the second half. Durham continued their offensive pressure in the second half, scoring three more goals, including one from
Jaden Grant in the 81st minute. Two own goals by Fleming further added to their woes.
Fleming's defense saw five yellow cards in a frustrating effort, and goalkeeper Josh LeGere finished with three saves, unable to contain Durham's relentless attack.
Durham will face a tough challenge in their next match on Saturday at 3:15 p.m., when they host the Algonquin Thunder, the top-ranked team in the CCAA with a 4-0-0 record.
Badibengi, just one goal behind Algonquin's Jaeden Mercure in league scoring, will look to continue his hot streak in this crucial matchup.
