OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords delivered an impressive Friday night performance, securing a dominant 93-69 victory over the Fleming Phoenix at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
Durham's offence was firing on all cylinders, shooting 47.4% from the field and scoring 54 points in the paint, which proved to be a decisive factor in their win.
Miles Hall led the Lords with an outstanding 18-point performance, shooting 5-for-10 from the field, including two three-pointers and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. His contributions were instrumental in Durham's second and third-quarter scoring surges, where they outscored Fleming 56-37 in the two middle quarters.
Max Voorpool added 15 points to the scoreboard, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc and sinking four free throws.
Rashane Smith was highly efficient, scoring 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting. Jasean Elliott contributed across the board with eight points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals, playing a key role in both the offensive and defensive game plans. Zach Morris chipped in with 10 points and was a defensive force, recording three blocks and two steals, further solidifying Durham's defensive presence.
On the boards, Mark Stoop led the Lords with 10 rebounds to go along with his six points and five assists. His dominance in the paint and defensive awareness allowed Durham to control the tempo and limit second-chance opportunities for Fleming. The Lords finished with 44 rebounds, outpacing Fleming's 37 and creating additional scoring opportunities.
Durham's defence was equally impressive, recording 14 steals and nine blocks, forcing Fleming into 21 turnovers, which resulted in 24 points. The Lords' defensive pressure throughout the game disrupted Fleming's offensive rhythm, preventing them from closing the gap despite a stronger second-half effort.
The Lords' depth was on full display, with the bench contributing 42 points, demonstrating the team's well-rounded attack and ability to maintain high energy throughout the game.
With this victory, the Lords extend their undefeated streak to 14 games and continue to build momentum as the regular season is nearing its end.
Durham return to the court on Tuesday, January 28 as they host the Centennial Colts at 8:00 PM.
