OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords battled through snowy, cold conditions on Sunday at Thompson Rugby Park in the OCAA men's rugby gold medal match against the Humber Hawks, ultimately concluding the season with a silver medal result.
Durham set the tone early, breaking through in the 7th minute when Devonne Henry finished a strong attacking sequence to give the Lords the opening lead.
The Hawks answered in the 23rd minute, but Durham regained control shortly after. Taylor Payne powered over the line to restore the advantage.
Humber capitalized on a trio of scoring opportunities, finding space for three consecutive tries to move in front.
The Lords continued to press in the closing stages, but the conditions and the late swing of play held them back in a 26-14 final.
Despite the result, Durham walked off the pitch with several standout performances. Aiden Torrance and Emmanuel Milfort were named Championship All-Stars, a reflection of their consistency, impact and leadership throughout the season.
With Sunday's silver, the Lords add their sixth medal since joining OCAA men's rugby in 2018, now owning three gold, two bronze and their first-ever silver in program history.
