BARRIE, Ont. - The Durham Lords men's basketball team earned a thrilling 93–90 road victory over the Georgian Grizzlies on Friday night at Michele McConney Court.
Behind a dynamic offensive showing and several clutch performances down the stretch, the Lords secured their fifth win of the OCAA season in dramatic fashion.
Durham came out firing in the opening quarter, putting up 33 points to set the tone early. The Lords built a lead as large as 17, moving the ball efficiently and hitting from deep at a 40 percent clip on the night.
Jasean Elliott led the way with a near triple-double performance, recording 25 points, 13 assists, seven rebounds, and four steals. The veteran guard was instrumental in organizing the offence and creating scoring chances throughout the contest.
Rudy Fakih added 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting, including six three-pointers, giving the Lords a major spark from beyond the arc.
Rashane Smith delivered a double-double of his own with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Desson Spencer also pulled down 11 boards to go along with five points and two blocks.
Caleb Carter contributed 10 points, hitting a pair of threes, and Rahsaan Chambers was active on both ends with seven points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.
As a team, Durham outrebounded Georgian 51-40 and dominated inside with 48 points in the paint. Their defensive effort was highlighted by eight blocks and nine steals.
Durham finally return to home court on Tuesday, November 11 against the Centennial Colts at 8:00 PM.
