OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords punched their ticket to the OCAA quarter-finals with an emphatic 92-70 victory over the Fanshawe Falcons.
A dominant fourth quarter sealed the win as Durham pulled away with a 31-point explosion in the final ten minutes.Â
Defensively, the Lords were relentless, racking up 22 steals and nine blocks to disrupt Fanshawe's offensive flow. Javade Marne was a standout on that end of the floor, recording four steals and two blocks to go along with six assists and four points.Â
Durham's defence forced 34 turnovers, converting them into 40 points, a key factor in their commanding win.
The Lords shot an efficient 50% from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers, keeping Fanshawe on their heels throughout the game. A balanced scoring attack saw Durham's bench contribute 36 points, ensuring a relentless pace that wore down the Falcons as the game progressed.
Miles Hall led the way with 19 points, shooting 7-for-13 from the field and hitting two three-pointers. Hall also contributed six rebounds, six assists, and four steals in an all-around performance that helped fuel the Lords' offensive rhythm.Â
Caleb Carter was on fire from beyond the arc, draining four three-pointers en route to 14 points, while adding three assists and three steals.
Rashane Smith was a force inside, finishing with 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting, while collecting six rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.Â
Jasean Elliott also made his presence felt with 13 points, two three-pointers, and three steals. Rudy Fakih provided key playmaking off the bench, dishing out seven assists while scoring nine points and securing five rebounds.
With this win, the Lords will now host the Mohawk Mountaineers next weekend in the quarter-finals, with the date and time yet to be determined.
