OSHAWA, Ont. – Georgia Willsie is the latest recruit to sign with the Durham College women's softball program ahead of the 2025 OCAA season.

Hailing from Waterloo, the catcher and third base player is set to graduate from Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School this month. 

"Georgia brings another strong left-handed bat to our line up. She is a spray hitter that has extra base power," said head coach Jamie Baker. "She will add strength behind the plate, as well as depth to our infield. Georgia will be here in September game ready and will make an immediate impact to our lineup."

Willsie brings a wealth of experience from the club level, having played with the UTM Revolution since 2020, as well as the Cambridge Coyotes and Waterloo Ghosts before that in the Grand Valley league.

During her time with UTM, the team earned silver at several provincial championships before taking home gold in 2024. The Revolution also won bronze at the Canadian national championship in 2022.

Among her many accomplishments, Willsie's greatest thrill was when she hit her first over-the-fence home run in a championship game south of the border. Georgia recalls feeling like all of her hard work paid off, saying it was a huge confidence boost knowing that she could perform at that level under pressure.

"I might be quiet off the field, but when I play - I flip a switch," said Willsie. "I am focused, vocal, and always locked in on what the team needs. Whether it's making a play or just backing up my teammates, I always try to bring a positive presence."

Looking ahead to her collegiate career, Willsie is eager to continue growing as both a player and a leader. She embraces the challenge of performing at a higher level and values the opportunity to be a positive influence on her teammates, both on and off the field.

With her athletic ability, competitive drive, and leadership qualities, Willsie is expected to be a strong addition to the Lords roster.

Georgia will be studying in the Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Durham College next fall.
