OSHAWA, Ont. - Chelsea Oke has been named to the OCAA Student-Athlete Committee (SAC) for the 2025-26 season, representing Durham College.
Oke is a dual-sport athlete, entering her third season with the women's softball and volleyball teams.
"I'm honoured to represent DC on the committee," said Oke. "Being able to share the student-athlete perspective and help make a difference across the conference is something that I am really excited about."
The SAC plays an important role in shaping the student-athlete experience across the conference. Made up of current and former athletes from OCAA member institutions, the committee serves as a voice for student-athletes, ensuring their perspective is heard at the decision-making table. The committee will have representation from 15 insitutions across Ontario for this upcoming season.
By giving athletes a direct platform within the OCAA, the committee helps bridge the gap between student-athletes and athletic administration, creating meaningful dialogue and driving positive change.
"Chelsea is a tremendous representative of what it means to be a Durham College student-athlete. Her leadership, commitment, and success in both the classroom and in competition make her an ideal voice for her peers at the OCAA level. We're incredibly proud to see her take on this role.", said Scott Dennis, DC's Director of Athletics & Recreation.
Chelsea is a leader in the classroom, on the field and on the court. She has earned an OCAA Academic Athletic Excellence Award in both years at Durham, adding on a CCAA Academic All-Canadian honour this year.Â
In 2023-24, she was a Second Team All-Star and a member of the OCAA's All-Rookie and Championship All-Star Teams in softball, while also being named to the All-Rookie Team in volleyball. She followed that up with Second Team All-Star awards in both softball and volleyball in 2024-25.
