Back-to-back triple digit performances for men's basketball

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham Lords completed a perfect weekend sweep of visiting opponents in a convincing 103-63 win over the La Cité Coyotes on Saturday afternoon.

The Lords set the tone early, jumping out to a 25-9 lead after the first quarter behind crisp ball movement and aggressive defence.

Durham followed that up with a 27-point second quarter, shooting efficiently from the perimeter and capitalizing on turnovers to take a commanding 52-23 advantage into halftime.

The lead only grew from there, as the Lords maintained their pace and intensity through the third and fourth quarters to finish the day shooting over 56 percent from the field and 56 percent from beyond the arc.

Romell Russell led all scorers with 23 points in 20 minutes of play, knocking down seven three-pointers while adding three assists.

Rudy Fakih was outstanding in all areas, finishing with 21 points and ten assists to go with two rebounds, consistently creating quality looks for teammates.

Rashane Smith provided a strong presence at both ends of the floor, adding 15 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Desson Spencer chipped in nine points and nine rebounds, while Rahsaan Chambers added seven points, six rebounds, two steals and a block off the bench.

Durham's depth was evident throughout the afternoon, with balanced scoring and contributions across the lineup as the Lords recorded 23 assists on 40 made field goals.

Defensively, Durham forced 20 La Cité turnovers and turned those into consistent scoring opportunities, building the lead to as many as 40 points late in the fourth quarter.

The Lords are back in action on Tuesday, January 27 in North York against the Seneca Sting at 8 p.m.
