ETOBICOKE, Ont. - Durham's season came to an end in women's basketball on Saturday night with a 76-31 loss to the Humber Hawks in an OCAA Championship qualifier.
The Lords came out with strong energy in the opening quarter and stayed right with the hosts early. After trading baskets through the first several minutes, Durham built a small lead late in the frame and led 11-10 after the first 10 minutes.
Humber put together a decisive run in the second half, using pressure defence and outside shooting to open up a double-digit lead at halftime.
The Hawks extended the gap in the third quarter with another strong stretch, while the Lords struggled to find consistency at the offensive end. In the fourth, Durham continued to compete and looked to finish the season on a positive note. Despite the final score, the group stayed engaged until the final buzzer.
Offensively, Sarah-Jane Laplante led the Lords with 15 points, hitting three triples and playing heavy minutes on the perimeter.
Destinee Archer added five points and seven rebounds, while Aiesha Lewis chipped in three points and five boards.
Durham finished the game with 23 rebounds and forced 27 turnovers.
With this result, the Durham College 2025-26 women's basketball season has come to an end.
