OSHAWA, Ont. – Durham College men's rugby has added another talented local product to its 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of Will Doucette-Strange.

The Uxbridge, Ont., native joins the Lords after a successful high school career that featured multiple championships and provincial development experience.

Standing 5-foot-10, Doucette-Strange is capable of playing both fly-half and scrum-half, bringing game management, decision-making and leadership to the backline.

"Will is a smart rugby player who understands how to control the tempo of a match," said Head Coach John Watkins. "He has experience winning at a high level, communicates well and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. We're excited to see how he'll continue to develop and contribute to our program."

A 2026 graduate of Uxbridge Secondary School, Doucette-Strange helped lead his school to Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) and Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (LOSSA) championships while also representing Uxbridge in rugby sevens. 

His development continued through the Ontario Blues Development Academy (OBDA) Winter Academy and the Ontario Summer Games, where he competed against some of the province's top young talent.

One of the highlights of his playing career came when he captured an OFSAA championship alongside his teammates.

"I'd say winning OFSAA with the boys is my most memorable moment," said Doucette-Strange.

Doucette-Strange chose Durham College because it offered the right balance of academics and athletics as he prepares for his next chapter.

"I chose Durham because they have good programs and opportunities for all trades and have a good varsity rugby team," he said.

This fall, Doucette-Strange will enrol in Durham College's Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Techniques program while continuing his rugby career with the Lords.

The 2026 OCAA regular season kicks off on Sunday, September 13 at 1 p.m. against the Georgian Grizzlies at Thompson Rugby Park.
