OSHAWA, Ont. – Erik Janssen (Hampton, Ont.) of the men’s volleyball team and Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen, Ont.) have been named the Durham College student-athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 11.
Terwillegar, a second-year graphic design student, has continued to be dominant for the Durham College women’s volleyball. In a 3-0 sweep of the Fleming Knights on Thursday night she had a career-high 13 kills and 16 points. She topped that again on Saturday with 16 kills and 19 points in a 3-1 loss to the Loyalist Lancers.
For the men, they will need some help from the George Brown Huskies and a win over the Sting to have a shot at fourth in the east region and a home OCAA championship qualifying match. Currently the Lords hold the tiebreaker over the Fleming Knights who play the Huskies on Tuesday night.
The Durham College athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
