Lords fall at home to Centennial
OCAA Men's Basketball: Centennial defeated Durham 92-78
OSHAWA, Ont. – In a rematch of the David Stewart Tip-Off finals, the Centennial Colts men's basketball team pulled out another win over the Durham Lords as they won by a final score of 92-78 Friday night at the CRWC.
Despite the loss,
Ajahmo Clarke scored 36 points for the Lords as he went 14-for-27 from the field and 8-for-10 from the free throw line. Clarke has been a scoring machine for Durham this season as he entered the game averaging 26.4 points per game which included a 41-point night in the Lords win over Canadore.
Clarke was able to record a double-double as he had a game-high 16 rebounds. This was Clarke's third straight double-double.
Durham's defence could not find a way to stop Centennial's starters who combined for 67 points. Justin Jarrett, who was the tip-off tournament MVP, led the Colts charge with 25 points and nine assists. Veteran big-man Tristan Stern had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds in 27 minutes of play.
Second half shooting was the difference in the game as Centennial outscored Durham 49-40, while shooting 58% from the floor in third and fourth quarters.
Centennial is 4-1 to start the season which is good enough to sit in second place in the OCAA east region.
Durham is 1-6 on the season and will host the winless La Cite Coyotes (0-4) on Saturday afternoon at the CRWC. Game time is 4 p.m.
