Lords fall short against Onondaga CC

Men's Baseball Exhibition
Onondaga defeated Durham 6-5
Onondaga defeated Durham 9-3

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Durham College men's baseball team travelled to Syracuse on Saturday for an exhibition doubleheader against Onondaga Community College of the NJCAA. The Lords battled hard but were unable to come up with a win as the Lazers swept the doubleheader.

Durham knew heading into the weekend that Onondaga would be a strong opponent because of their winning tradition in the NJCAA. In the last thirty years, the Lazers are 15-time NJCAA Region III finalists.

In Saturday's opening game, Onondaga pulled out a close 6-5 victory over the Lords. Starting pitcher Brad Pullan pitched six innings for Durham, allowing six earned runs while striking out four.

Ryan George was 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs while freshman David Fischer tore up the bases with three steals in the game. Fischer and Ilija Bozinovski each went 1-for-3.

In game two, the Lazers bats were hot early on as they scored nine runs, five of which were earned against starting pitcher Ryan Norris in just over three innings of work.

The Lords were unable to make up the nine run deficit, scoring only three runs in the game.

Michael Cyr was 2-for-3 and Fischer added another stolen base to his totals giving him four on the day.

The Lords will continue their exhibition tour on Sunday when they head to Canandaigua, N.Y. to take on Finger Lakes Community College. The Lakers are also a member of the NJCAA.
