OCAA Men's Basketball: Durham defeated Loyalist 69-62OSHAWA, Ont. – Coming off a perfect 4-0 weekend, winning the 38th annual David Stewart Tip-Off Tournament and defeating Manchester University, the Durham College men's basketball team carried that momentum forward to their home opener on Tuesday.
The Lords defeated the Loyalist Lancers 69-62, but the regular season victory was far from a walk in the park.
After opening the game on a 9-0 run, Durham let Loyalist claw back. Through the first quarter they led by a basket, 17-15.
Loyalist took the lead on one basket to start the second quarter. They went on a 10-0 run to start the second, eventually outscoring the Lords 22-15 in the quarter to take a 37-32 into halftime.

Dylan Pelissero tied the game 40-40, just 3:33 into the half. Loyalist wouldn't surrender the lead again until there was just six seconds remaining in the quarter.
Darian Rowe, who went on to lead the team with 20 points, put the Lords ahead 50-49.
Kur Ngong intercepted the inbound pass, scoring two of his six points as the buzzer went to send the Lords into the final 10 minutes in the lead.
Durham would extend their lead to the biggest spread in the game in the final quarter, 65-55, en route to their home opener victory.
The Lords spend the first few weeks of their regular season at home with their next game at the CRWC at home on Saturday at 3 p.m. against the Canadore Panthers. Next Friday, Oct. 31 they host the St. Lawrence Vikings.
