OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's softball team was dominant in their home opener on Thursday night as they took both games of their doubleheader against Seneca College.

Fans who were packed into Durham Field for minor softball night witnessed the Lords win game one by a score of 9-1 followed up with a 6-1 victory in game two.

Durham's pitching was phenomenal in both games as they limited the Sting to just five hits over 14 innings of work. Lydia Kalbfleisch (Moorefield, Ont.) earned the win in game one as she allowed a single unearned run off of three hits. Sam MacCallum (Whitby, Ont.) shutout the Sting in seventh inning for the save.

In game two, Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) was lights out for Durham as she pitched a complete game shutout. The second year starting pitcher registered nine strikeouts and allowed only two hits and zero walks. The only run Seneca would score was off a Durham defensive error in the seventh inning.

Katrina Gammie (Guelph, Ont.) and Tara Robinson (Mount Albert, Ont.) were both 3-for-3 for Durham in game one, as they combined for five runs and three RBI. Black and Caleigh Coels (Duncan, B.C.) also had a multi-hit games in the opener.

In game two, offence was spread out throughout the line-up as Robinson was the only player with more than one hit. She finished the game going 2-for-2 with two RBI. The Lords hit plenty of balls to left field, but Seneca's Tina O'Donnell made a number of outstanding plays to keep the Sting in the game.

Durham will now look ahead to the CAN-AM Classic, where the team will host eight games over two days this weekend. Gannon (Erie, PA) and Monroe (Rochester, NY) will be traveling from the United Stats to join Humber and Durham.
