Whitby’s Peyton Bergeron Commits to Durham College Women’s Softball

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's softball program has added another versatile talent to its 2026 roster with the commitment of outfielder and catcher Peyton Bergeron.

A Whitby native, Bergeron joins the Lords after a strong developmental stretch with the Whitby Eagles, competing at the U15 and U17 Tier 1 levels under head coach Jeremy Harness.

Bergeron arrives at Durham with a growing résumé built on consistency, improvement, and championship experience. In her most recent season with the U17 Eagles, she posted a .353 batting average and qualified for Canadian Nationals, where she elevated her performance with a .400 average. Her team earned silver at provincials, marking one of several high-level finishes throughout her youth career.

"I have been following Peyton for a number of years now and have always been a big fan of the way she plays the game. She is a hard working, no-excuses type of player with a great attitude and is coachable," said Head Coach Jamie Baker. "She receives well behind the plate, is versatile in the outfield and has a strong bat that is continuously improving. She has hit in the middle of the order for a very good Whitby Eagles team and I expect her to compete for a starting position next season."

She also contributed to a gold medal run at the Ontario Summer Games in 2024 and previously hit .372 during her 2023 campaign at the U15 Tier 1 level. Her progression reflects significant growth, particularly after she dedicated extensive offseason work to refining her swing following her 2024 season. That effort led her to become one of the Eagles' top hitters in 2025, while also standing out defensively. She notes that she held the highest batting average among the group of players who appeared in every game that season.

"I chose Durham College because the programs are specific to my desired career path. Also, Durham has a great softball program along with great coaches that will help me reach my potential," Bergeron said.

She will enter the Emergency Services Fundamentals program this fall and looks forward to bringing a high-energy presence to the field and the dugout. Bergeron describes herself as a supportive teammate who is committed to putting in the hard work needed to make an impact from day one. Fans, she adds, can expect to see her full effort and enthusiasm every game.

The Donald A. Wilson Secondary School graduate continues a strong pipeline of local talent joining the Lords as the program prepares for the 2026 OCAA season.
