TORONTO, Ont. – The Durham College women's softball team has swept their season series against the Seneca Sting.
On the road in Toronto on Thursday night, the Lords opened the doubleheader with a 13-0 victory in six innings before an 11-3 win to wrap up the night.
Caitlyn Omelanchuk (Whitby, Ont.) led Durham offensively in the first game of the night, going 4-for-4 at the plate with five RBIs and a run scored. Omelanchuk hit for the cycle with a t
riple in her first at bat, home run in her second, single in her third and double in the last at bat. Chloe Crawford (Mississauga, Ont.) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Hope Eagleson (Plattsville, Ont.) was 1-for-1 with a pair of RBIs and a run.
On the mound Omelanchuk went five innings with six strikeouts, while allowing six hits.
In the second game Omelanchuk's hot bat continued as she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, but it was
Tara Robinson (Mount Albert, Ont.) who drove in the most runs as she was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Mariah Gallant (Bowmanville, Ont.) was 1-for-1 in her lone at bat, but had 2 RBIs and a run.
Emma Greer (Peterborough, Ont.) pitched a complete game for Durham, with one earned run allowed on seven hits and one walk. Greer struck out six.
The Lords now travel to Kitchener on Sunday for a doubleheader against the Conestoga Condors to makeup Tuesday's games, which were postponed due to rain.
Durham's next home game is Tuesday at Durham Field against Conestoga. First pitch is 6 p.m.
