SCARBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College men's basketball team picked up two important points on Friday night as they defeated the Centennial Colts 71-54.
Durham's victory puts them in the middle of the pack in the OCAA east division, but only four points back of the second place Algonquin Thunder heading into their final game before the break, Wednesday against the St. Lawrence Vikings.
Rashaun Bennett (Scarborough, Ont.) picked up a season-high 27 points in the win, while leading the team with nine rebounds.
Returning guard
Aaron Hayles (Pickering, Ont.) finished with 21 points.
Joe Douglas (Courtice, Ont.) matched
Darian Rowe (Maple, Ont.) with eight boards.
Kendall Wilson picked up team-high 19 points for Centennial in the loss, while Paul Walwyn was one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.
The Lords will now travel to Kingston on Wednesday for an 8 p.m. tip-off against the St. Lawrence Vikings, their last game before the holidays. Durham's next home game is Jan. 19 when they host the George Brown Huskies.
