Nationally ranked Lords stunned by St. Lawrence

OCAA Men's Basketball: St. Lawrence defeats Durham 88-70

OSHAWA, Ont. – The No. 12 ranked Durham College men's basketball team seven-game win streak came to a grinding halt on Wednesday night as the St. Lawrence Vikings came up with an 88-70 victory over the Lords.

The Vikings remain one of the hottest teams in the country, extending their own win streak to 10 games. St. Lawrence (12-5) moves into sole possession of second place, four points behind Durham (14-3).

In the third quarter, tempers flared between the two teams when they came to blows resulting in three players being ejected after the dust settled. This moment spoke volumes about intensity exhibited by the two rivals on the court on Wednesday night.

With Durham leading by five points as the first quarter was coming to an end, Andrew Dawkins hit a three-point buzzer beater for the Vikes to close the gap to just two. Things would go downhill for Durham from that point forward as St. Lawrence took over the game and led by seven points at the half.

The Vikes would extend their lead in the third quarter and end up holding off a Durham comeback attempt winning by a score of 88-70.

Dawkins would score a game-high 38 points for St. Lawrence while Ajahmo Clarke (Ajax, Ont.) led Durham with 18.

The Lords will have a nine-day break before hosting Algonquin (7-8) and La Cite (2-13) on Feb. 13 and 14 respectively.
