WINDSOR, Ont. – The good news was that after six failed attempts, Durham Lords men's baseball conference action finally started on Sunday in Windsor. The bad news was the outcome of the doubleheader as the Saints swept the Lords.
 
Ilija Bozinovski pitched in the opening game for Durham and looked to be in midseason form. Over 5.2 innings, he only allowed six hits while striking out three. Although the Lords veteran was able to keep the St. Clair bats quiet, they were not silenced as the Saints scored one run in the third and two in the fifth.
 
St. Clair pitcher Teldin Friars pitched a gem only allowing two hits while fanning 10 batters over six innings of work. Wesley Siekris pitched a scoreless seventh inning to earn the save.
 
In game two, St. Clair's offence caught fire as they scored 10 runs over the first three innings including a five run second. Leading 9-2 in the fifth, the Saints tacked on three more to end the game.
 
Durham managed to only get three hits, with Thomas Fearon being the only player to get on base twice as he had one hit and a walk.
 
Brodie Harkness suffered the loss, allowing five earned runs over two innings of work.
 
Durham will be on the road this week to resume play against the Seneca Sting that was suspended from Sept. 11. The teams will continue game one of their doubleheader in the eighth inning tied at eight runs apiece.
 
The Lords home opener will take place on Sunday, Sept. 27 against the Humber Hawks. First pitch at Kinsmen Civic Memorial Stadium is 1 p.m.
