NORTH YORK, Ont. – Durham could not hold on to a lead in the final minute of play as the Seneca Sting pulled out an 82-77 victory Friday night in North York.
Durham was up by three points with just over a minute to go but Seneca fought back with a three-pointer to tie the game. After a timeout, Seneca would force a steal on the inbound and score two more points to take the lead. After yet another Sting defensive stop, Seneca would close out the game with three more points to secure the win.
Seneca (6-4) moves four points ahead of Durham (4-7) for fifth place in the OCAA eastern conference standings. Loyalist (5-4) holds on to the final playoff spot in the conference.
Christoff Pierre (Brampton, Ont.) and
Dylan Pelissero (Ridgeway, Ont.) made a big impact in their return to the Lords line-up. Pierre led the team in scoring with 18 points while Pelissero had nine rebounds.
Joshua Yorke had 23 points and Kevin Cromwell had nine rebounds to lead the Sting.
Durham is back in action on Tuesday night when they host the George Brown Huskies (7-4). Game time at the CRWC is 8 p.m.
