WINDSOR, Ont. – The Durham College women's softball team lost in extra innings in the second half of their doubleheader on Tuesday night to put an end to their seven-game win streak.
 
With the game tied 1-1 after seven, the St. Clair Saint walked off the final game of the regular season in the bottom of the eighth.
 
Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) took the loss in the 2-1 game, allowing one run on a hit and a walk over 2.2 innings. Sara Pesonen (Mississauga, Ont.) started the game on the mound, throwing 5.1 innings. She gave up one earned run on seven hits and a walk, while striking out four.
 
Alexa Georgiou earned the win, pitching a complete game for the Saints. She allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks, while striking out five.
 
At the plate Jaimie Clarke (Elmvale, Ont.) was 1-for-3 with an RBI to lead Durham's offence. Alexandra Senft was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double for the Saints in the win.
 
To open the doubleheader the Lords held on for a 3-2 victory.
 
Black picked up the complete game victory for Durham, allowing only two earned runs on nine hits and a walk. She struck out six St. Clair batters.
 
Sara Stiller threw 3.2 innings to start the game, allowing three earned runs on seven hits. Allision Telfer pitched in relief, allowing only one hit.
 
Durham's Samantha MacCallum (Whitby, Ont.) was 1-for-3 with a home run in the victory. Megan McDonald (Brampton, Ont.) was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
 
For St. Clair, Skyler Patteson led their bats going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
 
This Friday the Lords will be in Kitchener for the OCAA women's softball championship presented by belairdirect. Their opening game will be 1 p.m.

Earlier in the day on Tuesday, Ashley Black was named the OCAA women's softball athlete of the week.
