OTTAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's basketball team is back above .500 after picking up a 75-66 victory over the La Cité Coyotes on Sunday afternoon.
The Lords nine-point victory came thanks to their strong second quarter, which they outscored the Coyotes 22-15, after both teams were tied 15-15 through the opening 10 minutes.
In an even tilt – Durham only outscored their opponents by a single point in each of the remaining quarters to earn their 75-66 victory.
Sunday's win wouldn't have been possible without season-high numbers from
Funsho Dimeji (Malton, Ont.) and
Julian Hinckson Jr. (Ajax, Ont.). Dimeji finished with a double-double – 29 points and 10 boards to lead the Lords in both categories. Hinckson Jr. finished with 19 and seven.
Also nearing his season-high of 13 points,
Jeremiah Braham (Scarborough, Ont.) scored 10 for Durham.
Fabrice Gakwaya led La Cité with 18 points. Ricardo Belony and Gradi Tezo each were in double-digits with 12 and 10 points.
The Lords victory puts them in a five-way tie for fifth in the OCAA east region, which is led by the 8-0 Seneca Sting.
On Wednesday night Durham will be in Scarborough to face the Centennial Colts (6-3), who are third in the east region as of Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
