SCARBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College men's basketball team had a chance to win their game against Centennial College at the buzzer but the ball did not bounce their way as the Colts escaped with a 70-69 home victory over the Lords.
 
Trailing by one, Durham's defence forced up a poor shot by Centennial with ten seconds to go in the game. The Lords turned the ball up-court and had a chance to win but failed to convert a layup and two put backs before the final horn.
 
With the loss, Durham falls back to the .500 mark at 4-4 and is in a logjam tied with Loyalist (4-4), Georgian (4-5), Algonquin (4-5) and Canadore (4-6) for fifth place in the OCAA east region standings.
 
Brandon Halliburton (Brampton, Ont.) was unstoppable throughout the game as he finished with a team-high 29 points.
 
Durham College athlete of the week Funsho Dimeji (Malton, Ont.) was a monster on the glass picking up 19 rebounds to go along with 14 points. This was his second straight and third double-double of the season.
 
Julian Hinckson Jr. (Ajax, Ont.) was two points shy of a double-double with eight points and 14 boards while Jeremiah Mensah (Bowmanville, Ont.) had 16 points.
 
Leading the way for the Colts was Marko Curic with 17 points and nine rebounds.
 
Durham will wrap up conference action in 2016 on Friday night against the Fleming Knights (1-8). Tip-off at the CRWC is 7:30 p.m. with the women's team having the night off.
