TORONTO, Ont. – In a neck-and-neck battle on Friday night at Casa Loma, it was the George Brown Huskies that prevailed against the Durham College men's basketball team.
Trailing by six points after a quarter and again at halftime, the Lords had closed the gap to two points with 10 minutes to play. Unfortunately, the first-place Huskies had the better fourth en route to a 92-82 victory.
Brandon Halliburton (Brampton, Ont.) led Durham's offence in the loss with 23 points.
Julian Hinckson Jr. (Ajax, Ont.) scored 17 points, while
Fioti Mabanza (Whitby, Ont.) and
Funsho Dimeji (Malton, Ont.) scored 14 points apiece. All three players also finished with seven rebounds each.
Former Durham Lords Ajahmo Clarke led the Huskies to victory with his game-high 28 points and nine rebounds. His teammate Dejazmatch James also picked up nine rebounds alongside his 19 points.
Teshayn Gayle was the only other George Brown player in double-digit scoring as he finished with 12 points.
This Tuesday the Lords return home for their first game of the second half as the Centennial Colts travel to Oshawa. Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
