Lords step up in a must-win game

BARRIE, Ont. – Down the final stretch of the OCAA regular season every game will be a "must-win" for the Durham College men's basketball team if they hope to lock up a playoff berth.

Tuesday night in Barrie was one of those games and the Lords stepped up to the challenge coming out with an 83-62 road victory over the Georgian Grizzlies.

Durham (8-9) is in a four-way tie for fifth place in the OCAA east region, tied with Loyalist (8-9), St. Lawrence (8-10) and Canadore (8-11) for the final two playoff positions. Durham has three games remaining in their regular season including match-ups against Loyalist and St. Lawrence.
 
The Lords led from start-to-finish against the Grizzlies as they were up 16-10 after one quarter and 39-26 at the half.
 
Durham continued to pull away in the third quarter as they took a 58-40 lead into the final ten minutes. The Lords continued to push in the fourth as they increased their lead to 21 points by the time the final buzzer sounded.
 
Next action for Durham is on the road against the Fleming Knights (4-14). Game time in Peterborough is 7 p.m.
 
The following night Durham will host the Loyalist Lancers in a make-up game at the CRWC. Tip-off is at 8 p.m. against the Lancers.
