SASKATOON, Sask. – The Durham College women's softball team split their opening day of the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association (CCSA) national championship on Friday.
The Lords defeated the host Saskatoon Huskies 8-0 before falling 9-2 to the Calgary Dinos.
On Saturday, Durham faces the Western Mustangs and Regina Cougars to wrap up round-robin play. Last year the Lords finished fourth, their best result since winning silver in 2012.

Game 1 vs. Saskatoon
• Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) pitched five innings in the victory, allowing no runs on four hits and no walks, while striking out three.
Game 2 vs. Calgary

Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) took the loss, going 5.1 innings and allowing eight earned runs on 12 hits and a walk. She struck out one Dino.

Sarah Seifried (Drayton, Ont.) led the Lords with three RBI, going 1-for-2.
• The Lords best on base percentage came from
Alexis Pereira (Newmarket, Ont.), who was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
Game 2 vs. Calgary

Andrea Patrick (Whitby, Ont.) and
Courtney McKellar (Alvinston, Ont.) had the Lords only RBIs in the game, both going 1-for-3 from the plate.
