SASKATOON, Sask. -Â Competing in three games on the final day of the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association (CCSA) national championship, the Durham College women's softball team won silver in Saskatoon this weekend.
The podium result is the best finish for the Lords at the annual CCSAÂ competition since 2012.
The Lords opened the day with a tightly contested 3-2 win over the Western Mustangs to advance to the bronze medal/championship semifinal. There they dropped the Calgary Dinos 5-1 to earn their place in the gold medal match.

Facing off with the Regina Cougars, the Lords ran out of steam, falling 8-1 in the championship final to end the arduous day on the second step.

Durham returns to conference play on Friday night in Hamilton against the Mohawk Mountaineers, their last regular season doubleheader before the OCAA championship in Kitchener from Oct. 19-20.

Game 1
•
Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, Ont.) smashed a fourth-inning home run, collecting two RBI.
•
Sarah Seifried's (Drayton, Ont.) fifth inning RBI sacrifice fly clinched a spot for the Lords in the medal round.

Game 2
• Seven Lords batters recorded a hit, led by
Courtney McKellar's (Alvinston, Ont.) perfect 3-for-3 performance from the plate.

Andrea Patrick (Whitby, Ont.) drove in two RBI, while McKellar, Seifried, and
Kaleigh MacIntyre (Guelph, Ont.) each recorded one.
Game 3
• McKellar, Black, and
Jaimie Clarke (Elmvale, Ont.) each recorded a hit despite the long day of competition.
• Black earned the lone RBI for the Lords in the championship final.

Game 1
• Pitching seven complete innings,
Ashley Black (Waterloo, Ont.) earned the victory, allowing just six hits and two earned runs, while striking out three.

Game 2
• Glendinning started in the pitching circle, going four innings with eight hits, one earned run and two strikeouts.
• Black appeared in relief, shutting out the Dinos through three innings.
Game 3
• Pitching in her third game of the day, Black allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits in 2.2 innings.
• Glendinning appeared in relief, shutting out the Cougars in 1.1 innings of work.
