TORONTO, Ont. - The Durham College men's basketball team advanced to the semifinal of the GBC New Year's Classic after defeating the Lambton Lions 98-92 in overtime during the first round of the exhibition tournament on Friday.
Tomorrow's seminfinal matchup will tip off at 3 p.m. with the Lords challenging the winner of the final contest of the first day between St. Clair and La Cite.
Following the tune-up tournament, Durham returns to regular season action on Friday, Jan. 11 as they travel to Peterborough to face the Fleming Knights. Tip off for the first OCAA contest of 2019 is set for 7 p.m.

Brandon Halliburton (Brampton, Ont.) led the Lords with 29 points in the opening matchup of the tournament.
• Standout forward
Julian Hinckson Jr. (Ajax, Ont.) also broke the 20 point mark, finishing the night with 23 pointsÂ
• First-year guard
Daavyd Marquez-Relih (Mississuaga, Ont.) and first-year forward
Craig Hanson (Ajax, Ont.) rounded out the Lords double-digit performances scoring 10 and 11 respectively.

• Hanson earned the double-double adding 10 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass.
• 6'6 first-year forward
Alberto Lopez (Barrie, Ont.) also grabbed a game-high 10 boards, adding eight points to his night.
