OSHAWA, ON - Returning to the court for preseason action this fall, the Durham College men's basketball team played two games over the weekend, culminating in an exciting 71-69 come-from-behind win over the visiting Lambton Lions on Sunday, after dropping their first match 69-55 versus the Niagara Knights on Saturday.
In the Sunday showdown, Durham delivered on the comeback, outscoring the Lions 51-33 in the second half. The Lords were led by forward
Christo Ugodo (Calgary, AB) who finished the win with 20 points, while adding six rebounds. Meanwhile, third-year veteran
RJ Stephenson (Markham, ON) added 18 points, nine rebounds, one block and one assist, whileÂ
Sleiddy Joseph (Ottawa, ON) provided a spark off the bench recording nine going 4-for-4 from the floor and 1-for-1 from the free throw line.
The day prior, in the Lords loss to the Knights, it was point guard
Angelo Sarsonas (Toronto, ON) who led DC in scoring with 10 points. 11 different Lords recorded a basket in the Saturday afternoon contest, with fellow guard
Alex Wright (Toronto, ON) registering seven points, and the trio of
Shamar Lewis (Toronto, ON),
Mark Stoop (Oshawa, ON), and
Daniel Agyekum Harris (Fairfax, VA) adding six points each.
DC's preseason schedule will now continue on the road, beginning with a match versus the Sheridan Bruins on Wednesday, Nov. 10. Tip off for the road game is set for 8 p.m. Â
