SARNIA, ON - Competing in three exhibition contests at the Lambton Invitational this past weekend, the Durham Lords men's basketball team finished 1-2 after falling 66-84 to the host Lambton Lions and 65-99 to the St. Clair Saints, before defeating the Conestoga Condors 68-82.
On the opening day of the inaugural invitational, the Lords saw 10 different players score a point, led by a pair of playmakers in
Adam Hosseini (Toronto, ON) and
Keeth Tennant (Toronto, ON) who each scored 12 points apiece. Third-year veteran
RJ Stephenson also reached double-digits, finishing the match with 10 points.
On Day 2 of the event, the Lords were in tough versus a very game St. Clair squad. Tennant once again shined for the Lords with 13 points from the guard, 10 of which came in the second half. Meanwhile, fellow guard
Angelo Sarsonas (Toronto, ON) led DC with a team-high 18 points, including four made three-pointers. Once again the Lords utilized their entire team during the preseason match with 10 players registering at least a point in the loss.
Rounding out the weekend, Durham picked up the win behind a team-high 20 points from Tennant, who was successful in finding his way to the free throw line. Also having another strong performance, Hosseini registered 16 points. Adding another scoring punch on the inside for DC was first-year athlete
Christo Ugodo (Calgary, AB). The 6'8 forward recorded 15 points in the win, mostly from a dominant first half where he recorded a dozen points.
Durham concludes their preseason schedule this week when they face the Centennial Colts at the CRWC this Tuesday, Nov. 16. Tip off for the exhibition match is set for 8 p.m. with the contest available to stream via
OCAA LIVE. Following the end of the Lords preseason campaign, DC will prepare for the beginning of the OCAA season which will commence this coming January with the Lords first tilt set for Friday, Jan. 7 on the road versus the St. Lawrence Surge.
