OSHAWA, ON – The Durham Lords stay undefeated through nine games to begin the season, picking up three more wins at Thompson Rugby Park on Saturday.
Starting the day early with the first game at 9:00 AM against the Loyalist Lancers,
Emily Cooper (Guelph, ON) and
Shay Morris (Ajax, ON) led the Lords to a 41-0 win with a strong offensive showing. Cooper recorded three tries, while
Shay Morris registered two, along with three conversions.
Heather Bews (Whitby, ON) and
Sarrynn Hopkins (Whitby, ON) each added a try.
In the second game of the day, Cooper added three more tries to her daily total, with Bews and Morris each adding one. Morris kicked three conversions, helping the Lords to a 31-7 win over the Humber Hawks.
Algonquin was the third opponent to end the day but like the others were unable to stop the hosts. Morris scored three tries,
Danika Johnston (Courtice, ON) and
Emily Busse (Lindsay, ON) each scored a pair,
Maya Austin (Ajax, ON) and Cooper each scored one, and Morris kicked four conversions on route to a 53-0 victory.
The weekend series will continue on Sunday at Thompson Rugby Park as the Lords will play against the Seneca Sting, St. Lawrence Surge and Fleming Knights.
