Women's rugby complete the four-peat

CAMBRIDGE, Ont. - Durham College stormed through the 2025 OCAA Women's Rugby Sevens Championship to claim their fourth consecutive provincial title, capping off a perfect season and extending the most dominant run in OCAA women's rugby history.

The path to gold began with a 22-0 quarter-final win over Fleming. Tries from Danika Johnston, Nicole Porter, Shantel Wray, and Ciara London powered Durham to a strong start, while Sarah Clayton added a convert to complete the shutout.

Momentum carried into the semifinal, where the Lords overwhelmed Seneca 52-0. Clayton and Amber Edgerton each scored three tries in the statement victory, with Danika Johnston and Daniella Kimevski adding one apiece.

Camryn Wood was clinical with the boot, nailing six converts to send Durham to yet another gold medal final.

The championship match saw a familiar opponent in Humber, a rematch of the 2021 title game where the Hawks handed Durham one of its two all-time silver medals.

This time, the result was decisive. Amber Edgerton stole the spotlight, scoring three tries, while Taylor Wood added two more and Kimevski chipped in another. Wood also made two converts as the Lords blanked Humber 34-0 to seal their fourth straight gold.

In 17 games this season, Durham outscored opponents 702–19, posting 14 shutouts and proving unmatched in both attack and defence.

The title marks the program's fourth gold and sixth overall medal, with the Lords becoming the first team in OCAA women's rugby sevens history to win four in a row while no other school has ever gone back-to-back.

This is the second time in DC history that a team has won four championships in a row, with the women's softball team winning gold every year from 2015 through 2018.

Championship All-Star honours went to Sarah Clayton and Daniella Kimevski, while Amber Edgerton earned the Championship MVP award.
