OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College Athletics is proud to announce the addition of Port Perry's Kennedy Feasby to the women's rugby staff, bringing professional and national team experience to the program.
A local standout from Port Perry, Feasby began her playing career at Uxbridge Secondary School with the Tigers and on the pitch with the Oshawa Vikings before moving on to an accomplished university career with the Guelph Gryphons.Â
From 2021 through 2025, she was recognized as both an OUA and U SPORTS all-star on five occasions, establishing herself as one of the top players in the country.
Feasby also earned valuable national team experience. She was selected to the Canada U23 Women's Rugby Team and proudly represented Canada at the 2024 FISU World University Rugby Sevens Championships in Aix-en-Provence, France, where she helped capture a silver medal.
Her playing résumé also features professional success. In 2023, Feasby won the Premier Rugby Sevens championship with the Northern Loonies, a Minneapolis-based team in the first professional rugby union league in North America to award contracts to women. Most recently, she added another title to her collection by winning the Legacy Cup with the Denver Onyx during the inaugural Women's Elite Rugby season.
"Adding someone of Kennedy's experience and energy is a huge boost for our program," said head coach Chris McKee. "She has competed at every level… provincial, national, international, and professional, and her insights will be an incredible asset for our student-athletes as we continue to grow women's rugby at Durham College."
Alongside Feasby's arrival, the Lords also bid farewell to assistant coach Samantha Gates, who is moving on to new opportunities.
Â
A former Durham College student-athlete, Gates was a driving force during her playing career, earning an OCAA silver medal, team MVP honours, and finishing second in league scoring.
After transitioning to coaching, she helped guide the Lords to a dominant stretch that included three consecutive OCAA gold medals and a silver.
"Sam has given so much to this program as both a player and coach," said McKee. "Her leadership, passion, and connection with the team were instrumental in our success. We thank her for everything she has contributed and wish her the very best in her next chapter."
The Lords look to defend their title this season, which begins in Belleville against the Loyalist Lancers on Saturday, September 13 at 10:00 AM. Fans can catch the team at home four times this season on the weekend of September 20-21 at Thompson Rugby Park.
