Box Score OSHAWA, ON – Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) went 7.0 innings on Saturday afternoon, shutting out the Sheridan Bruins as the Lords cruised to a win.
Jocelyn Shelton (Aylmer, ON) scored the first of what would ultimately be many runs in the game for the Lords, advancing home as Sydney Redick (Alvinston, ON) recorded an RBI single from the plate.
Both sides were able to get through the second inning without allowing a score. In the bottom of the third, Grace Hearns (Napanee, ON) hit an inside the park home run to double Durham's lead. Shelton scored her second run of the afternoon a couple of batters later, and Hannah Oke (Brooklin, ON) would hit a single to send Ryleigh Easton (Bowmanville, ON) home to end the scoring in the third inning with a 4-0 lead.
Durham added three more runs in the following, with Hearns, Shelton and Abi Suffel (Whitby, ON) making their way around the bases. In the sixth inning, Brooke Scott (Elmvale, ON) took her first at-bat of the game and later scored, extending the lead to eight runs.
Glendinning only gave up two hits in the game, ultimately striking out 10 of 24 batters faced. Shelton led the scoring parade with three runs and one RBI.
Later on Saturday afternoon, the Lords will play their second game of the day with a meeting against the OCAA-leading St. Clair Saints at 4:30 PM.
The Lords will play their last home games of the 2022 season on Tuesday, October 4 with a doubleheader against the Sheridan Bruins at 6:00 & 8:00 PM. Durham will recognize and celebrate their graduating seniors at the beginning of the evening.
