OSHAWA, ON – Durham shutout three out of three opponents on Sunday at Thompson Rugby Park to extend their undefeated streak to 12 games.
Beginning the day against the Seneca Sting,
Danika Johnston (Courtice, ON) and
Emily Cooper (Guelph, ON) each scored a pair of tries to lift the Lords to a 31-0 win.
Shay Morris (Ajax, ON) scored one try and successfully kicked three conversions in the game.
Durham had a lunch time date with the St. Lawrence Surge in the middle of the day, defeating the Surge 41-0. Johnston and Cooper again combined for four tries, while Morris,
Emily Busse (Lindsay, ON) and
Maya Austin (Ajax, ON) each scored one.
In the last game of the weekend, Durham defeated the Fleming Knights 25-0 to end a perfect weekend. Offensively speaking, the scoring was spread evenly around the team as Austin, Cooper, Johnston, Morris and
Heather Bews (Whitby, ON) each earned one try.
Improving to 12-0 on the season, the Lords sit comfortable in first place in the OCAA standings.
The third and final weekend of the regular season will take place in Peterborough on October 15-16, 2022, where Fleming College will host the women's rugby sevens participants. Durham is scheduled to face each team one more time before the OCAA Championships.
