Box Score LONDON, ON - The Durham Lords women's softball team earn their second victory of the 2022 OCAA Women's Softball Championship with a 4-3 win over the Humber Hawks.
Durham were off to an early lead, scoring three runs before Humber even had the opportunity to go up to bat.
With Natalie Clemens (Marmora, ON) on first base after a walk, Jocelyn Shelton (Aylmer, ON) doubled to centre field to bring in the runner and Clemens earned the first run of the game.
In the next at bat, Shelton scored from second on a single hit by Sydney Redick (Alvinston, ON).
Hannah Oke (Brooklin, ON) came to the plate with runners on first and second, hitting a single out to centre field and Redick would score from second.
In the bottom of the second, Humber began to force their way back with two runs scored to make it a one-run game. Following a scoreless third inning, both sides added a run in the fourth inning - beginning with Clemens who scored her second of the game from third base on a sacrifice fly from Shelton.
With a 4-3 lead, it turned into a pitcher's duel with no runs allowed across the final three innings of the game and the Lords came out on top.
Redick was the starting pitcher, going 3.1 innings and striking out three batters. Oke hit the mound for the final 2.2 innings, allowing no runs and striking out another three batters.
With the victory, the Lords will play at 3:00 PM against the winner of the St. Clair Saints and host Fanshawe Falcons. Winner advances directly to the gold medal game, loser will have an opportunity to qualify for the gold medal game via the bronze medal game.
