Persaud commits to men's baseball program

OSHAWA, ON – Local baseball player Ishaan Persaud (Pickering, ON) will stay close to home as he signs with the Durham Lords men's baseball program.

No stranger to the Kinsmen Civic Memorial Stadium, Persaud will be coming to Durham out of the Oshawa Legionaires system, where he played 18U in the Premier Baseball League of Ontario, hitting .444 in the 2021 season.

Standing at 5'7", Persaud is a right-handed batter who can defensively play at the middle infield and outfield positions.

"I chose Durham because it's close to home and it has a good atmosphere," said Persaud. "I am a high energy player and I just like to compete."

Prior to his time with the Legionaires, Persaud played for the Ajax Spartans 16U & 17U teams, as well as the Scarborough Stingers 15U team.

Persaud will be graduating from Dunbarton High School in Pickering this June.

"Ishaan will bring energy towards his teammates and our program. He can swing it from both sides of the plate and has defensive versatility throughout the field and an offensive speed component to his game," said Head Coach Darryl Reid. "We are really looking forward to adding his abilities to our program."

Persaud will begin studying in Durham's Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Techniques program this fall.
