Box Score NORTH YORK, ON – The Lords finished off the weekend with an 11-7 win over the Mohawk Mountaineers.
After a big comeback in the first game of the day against Seneca, Durham kept the momentum going with three runs in the first running en route to a 7-0 lead to begin their game against Mohawk.
By the end of the third inning,
Grace Hearns (Napanee, ON) had already scored three runs, one for each at-bat to that point.
Mohawk responded with seven runs of their own through the third and fourth innings to make it a 9-7 game and both sides held each other scoreless in the fifth inning.
In the top of the sixth,
Natalie Clemens (Marmora, ON) scored her fourth run of the game as a result of a single off the bat of
Sydney Redick (Alvinston, ON), and then Hearns would score her fourth later in the same inning. The seventh and final frame went scoreless as the Lords hung on for an 11-7 victory.
Emily Glendinning (Plattsville, ON) went for 3.0 innings on the mound, striking out two batters.
Morgan Salter (Battersea, ON) pitched 3.1 innings, striking out five of 14 batters faced.
Hearns was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate, batting in two runs and scoring four of her own. Clemens also had a big afternoon, scoring four runs in the game. Redick and
Ryleigh Easton (Bowmanville, ON) and
Jocelyn Shelton (Aylmer, ON) each scored a single run.
The Lords return home to host the Humber Hawks again on Wednesday, September 14.
