VAUGHAN, ON - The Durham College women's soccer team will play for the third spot on the podium on Saturday afternoon after falling 2-1 to the Humber Hawks in the semifinal at the 2023 OCAA Women's Soccer Championship.
Humber opened the scoring in the 15th minute to take an early lead. Going into halftime, it was all Hawks as they held Durham to no shot attempts in the opening 45 minutes.
Durham came out flying for the second half and it was a much more even affair.
Not long after returning to the pitch from the break, Shelby Khan (Oakville, ON) scored on an incredibly long set piece. The free kick found the back of the net unobstructed to tie the match at one.
The Hawks scored the game winner in the 77th minute, sending the Lords down the path looking for a bronze medal.
Kelsa O'Donoghue (Ajax, ON) had a busy afternoon, facing 13 shots on target and saving 11.
Isabel Sullivan (Bowmanville, ON) earned player of the match honours for the Lords.
The Lords will play in the bronze medal match on Saturday at 1:00 PM against the St. Clair Saints at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
